Studio 180 Dance! |
The 2010 fall semester is just around the corner! We are so excited to get started with returning and new students, students we met over the summer and exciting new faculty members! This fall, we are so happy to introduce Ms Nina Charity, our newest aerial dance teacher, and Mrs Matisse Gilson as part of our Zumba® faculty!
Registration, of course, is the first thing to take care of to prepare for the 2010 fall semester. This year, we are offering two methods of registration: online and in person/by mail. Simply go to our registration page and click to register online!
After registration, however, the fun can begin with "Back to Dance Shopping!" Just like going back to school, supplies are necessary for the dance year so Annapolis Dancewear is having a Fire Sale! Don't miss this opportunity to save buckets on all dance gear, August 30 - September 3, 4 - 8pm.
The faculty at Studio 180 Dance can't wait for the 2010/2011 dance year to begin. Fun, growth, learning and friendship ensue! See you at the studio!

Fall registration for classes is now open online, via
mail and in person at the studio! Check our website for the new fall schedule.
If you register at our First Sunday
performance September 5 or our Fall Festival performance September 12, we will waive the annual $35 registration fee! For
more discounts such as military and multiple classes, visit our webage.
Payment in Full
For those taking advantage of the discount by paying in full at the time of registration, you have two options:

Competition Team
Auditions
Do you want the opportunity to perform more?
Get tips from professionals on how to become a better dancer? Take
master classes with dancers from other studios and make new friends?
Then
it sounds like you should audition for Studio 180's Competition Team!
The last auditions
will be held at Studio 180 on the
following date:
Saturday,
September 11th at 2:30pm
Dancers
should come in a leotard, tights, dance shorts, if preferred, with hair
tied back and secured; please bring proper footwear. A 30 sec - 1 min piece in your discipline (or one of them) must be prepared to
perform at the audition.
Dancers can
audition for the following:
Jazz
Tap
Lyrical
Ballet
Hip
Hop
Requirements of Studio 180's
Competition Team are as follows:
1
ballet class (1 hr, but tap is
exempt from this)
1 ballet technique class (90 min; note: tap, only, is
exempt from this requirement)
1 class in their discipline (note: if it's ballet, the
ballet requirements already fit)
1 CT (competition) rehearsal (1 hr
per week: all members meet to run dances)
1 CT class in their
discipline (wholly devoted to the competition choreography)
Solos and
duets are available for an additional fee
Members
may miss no more than 5 CT classes, September through May (any of the required listed above). If they miss more than 1 during competition
season (Feb - May), they are not allowed to perform in that
competition, even though it will have been paid for. (Serious illness,
injury or tragedy are exceptions.)
Competition team members are
required to purchase a team jacket and pants. Purchase of a bag if optional.

First Sunday Festival in Annapolis
We will be performing at the September 5 festival this year, 12 - 4pm!
Come to our First Sunday Festival
in downtown Annapolis on West Street (in the parking lot of Stan and
Joe's) to see us perform. If you register at the event, we will waive the annual $35 registration fee. Bring friends and family to watch us
perform on the ground and in the air with our 20' portable rig.

Fall Festival at Kaufmann's Tavern
Come watch the Studio 180 Dance Faculty perform at the Fall Festival in Gambrills, MD on September 12. The festival is to be hosted at Ms Katie's fiancee's restaurant, Kaufmann's Tavern, which has fabulous food. And there will be other fun activities throughout the day as well! The festivities begin at 2pm with the Studio 180 Performance!

Aerial Dance News
Along with our newest addition to our aerial dance faculty, Ms Nina
Charity, we are adding more fun! We are adding the lyra and single point
trapeze to our aerial curriculum this year. Both apparatus hang from a
single point and, thus, add spinning movement to aerial dance. While
both apparatus can be hung high off the ground, they can also be low to
the ground allowing a connection between the ground and air and allowing
for more choroegraphical opportunities!

New Zumba® Programs!
Our newest addition to the Studio 180 Faculty, Mrs Matisse Gilson, is certified in Zumba Gold®! Zumba Gold® was designed to train the more deconditioned, older, active adult! With Matisses' energy, there's no doubt you will feel yourself getting fit in this class! Classes will be held at 9am on Wednesday mornings starting in the fall!
For all adult Zumba® or Zumba Gold® classes, if you bring a group of 5+ participants, you will each receive a 5% discount on a 10 class card!
